Book Signing!
Johnny had a dream come true last week! He and some of his friends back in Richland have been reading a series of books called The Inheritance Cycle and the first two books are Eragon and Eldest, they are fantasy books about dragon riders. The author was homeschooled his whole life and at 15 wrote Eragon. A publishing company bought it and now he is famous! :) Well, the third book called Brisingr came out September 20th and I found out that Christopher Paolini (the author) was doing a book signing just 1/2 hour from where we live! I was so excited! So I called and got tickets and we suprised Johnny with an early birthday present! The boxed set of all 3 books came out at the same time so we got that for Johnny's birthday too so he could get the books signed. The publishing company had a lot of rules for the book signing, we could only get 2 books signed per person and only one of those books could be personalized with a name. So I had two of Johnny's books from his set and he had two. It was held at the Bethesda Chevy Chase High School and was so fun! Christopher talked and told us a lot about where he got ideas from and even did a reading from one of his favorite parts of the book. He then answered questions and then did the book signing. We were only 3 rows back from the front so we had good seats too! When we got up there, Christopher had never seen the boxed set yet and Johnny's book was the first one he had seen from the gift set and I guess the cover had a different finish or something. Christopher looked at the book and showed it to his agent and since he was doing this, Johnny got to have a conversation with him and he felt really lucky! I was madly taking pictures of course and you can see some of him looking at Johnny's book and showing it to his agent. We had a wonderful time and my big accomplishment was driving us there during rush hour and not getting too lost! :)
